A child shows pride in her artwork—creating a heart to show love.
Children in this classroom have opportunities to choose and work with many different materials. They had had been learning about emotions, and “Heart Mind Well Being.”
This child decided to make a heart for the “Kindness Jar” to make everyone feel good inside. She set aside all the other centers and children asking her to go and play. She focused on the task at hand--her artwork made with love. She was also able to show her peers that that she knew the shape of the heart was for Love.
She was so proud of her work that she wanted everyone’s recognition at seeing it. When she was finished, she said, “Look! Take a picture of me!”
